Message from President Doran
November 6, 2024
To Our Community,
I write to you today after another election has presented the opportunity to exercise our inalienable right to vote. As with every election, there are voters who are pleased with the outcome and others who are disappointed. What matters is that we vote. And with that vote, we send our ideals, opinions, and hopes toward the future.
The days and months leading up to Election Day have been fraught and divisive, and I am proud of the ways our Bay Path community has maintained civility and upheld our core value to treat others with respect and compassion. This value, which includes striving to understand one another, listen generously, and act with kindness, compassion, and patience will guide us today and every day.
We will continue to focus on civic engagement with a panel discussion on the importance of personal resilience and finding motivation in the face of challenges. On Wednesday, November 13, we will be joined by guest speakers: Yvette Frisby, CEO of the Urban League of Springfield; LaTonia Naylor, School Committee Member, Springfield Public Schools; and Ellen Moorhouse, Communications and Marketing Director, Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, for a discussion titled “Being the Change You Wish to See: Fireside Chat with Local Change Makers.” The event will be held in person from 5:30 to 6:30 in Breck Suite and also on Zoom.
We are a strong community and, as always, we will continue to keep our eyes toward the future and all that we imagine for ourselves, our families, and each other.
In community,
Sandra J. Doran, JD
President
