PCR Testing Suspended BUT Rapid/Antigen Test Still Available Free of Charge
Beginning Monday, January 30, University-sponsored PCR testing through Color Health/Broad will be suspended until further notice. Since the beginning of the fall semester, only five employees and 10 students have taken advantage of the PCR testing option. The demand for PCR testing has declined because of the growing popularity of the rapid/antigen test, which is a quick, convenient, and reliable way to test when you have symptoms or want confirmation of your COVID status.
In the past three years, the COVID Task Force has tried not to set policies too far in advance because if the pandemic has taught us anything, it is that circumstances change. There may be a time when we need to reintroduce PCR testing. We cannot predict when that will happen, but our decisions will be based on the data.
Rapid antigen tests will continue to be available, free of charge, Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM in Health Services, Hatch Library, and Student Life. They are also available at the Ryan Center by calling Helen Gentile at 413-565-1059.
PCR testing will remain available on a limited basis for employees and students, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM in the Health Services Department. For more information please contact Health Services at 413.565.1544 or healthservices@baypath.edu.
Thank You,
The COVID-19 Task Force
