Bay Path soccer has concluded its season, holding a record of zero wins and eight losses. While the results of each game may not tell the whole story, each match has been full of perseverance and teamwork.
Looking back on the 2024 season, the Bay Path Soccer team is building a foundation for future success, even in the face of adversity. In just the second season back from the program break due to COVID-19, over half of the team is made up of first-year students. First-year Seralyn Lendroth from East Haven, Connecticut, finished second in saves across the USCAA, recording 104 saves in her first year. First-year Lilyana White recorded one goal and one assist this season. Lastly, returning player Ansley Morrison led the team in scoring with two goals. Morrison's performance shows that the Wildcats are in good hands for the future.
This young group is led by two captains, junior Alyssa Kreischer and senior Camila Herrera. The two captains guide the young team with their competitive spirit and positive attitude. Alyssa Kreischer and Camila Herrera are versatile on the soccer field, allowing them to be valuable in multiple defensive and offensive positions. Both Kreischer and Herrera have received the Student-Athlete of the Month award. Herrera and Kreischer's efforts as captains are not limited to their time on the field. They have been actively seeking to add to the roster, putting in countless hours welcoming new student-athletes to the Bay Path soccer program. In addition, they have traveled to local high schools to watch and speak to potential recruits. These two are not only captains; they have also acted as coaches and mentors to their teammates. Camila Herrera is graduating at the end of this fall semester; she will be missed by not only the soccer team but by the entirety of the Bay Path community.
Rebuilding any athletic program is easier said than done. The Wildcats are coached by alum Grayson Connery, who is now in his second season and has aspirations to restore the program to what it was like when he played. Regardless of their record, Bay Path soccer demonstrates commitment and patience. The wins will come soon as long as the Wildcats stay hard at work. Congratulations to the team for another excellent season; we are so proud of you all!
