On Thursday, December 12, 2024, 65 students from Bay Path University’s Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program, Class of 2026, marked a significant milestone in their educational journey at the White Coat Ceremony. Held in the Mills Theatre at Carr Hall, the event was attended by a legion of family, friends, and faculty members, all gathered to celebrate this rite of passage.

The White Coat Ceremony symbolizes the students’ transition from classroom learning to clinical practice, a moment that underscores their commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. As future healthcare providers, the ceremony is not only a recognition of academic achievement but also a reminder of the values of professionalism, empathy, and responsibility that define the Physician Assistant (PA) profession.

The keynote address was delivered by Tyler Branco G’17, PA-C, a Bay Path alumnus whose own career journey exemplifies dedication to patient care and education. Tyler began his healthcare career with a focus on geriatrics, an experience that shaped his passion for serving patients with respect and dignity. Fluent in Portuguese, he has brought cultural competency to his practice, fostering stronger connections with diverse patient populations.

After earning his MPAS degree from Bay Path, Tyler worked at a local community center, providing comprehensive care in Pediatrics and Adult Medicine. In 2019, he joined Wilbraham Adult Medicine, where he currently specializes in Adult Medicine. His contributions to the healthcare field extend beyond his clinical work. As one of the Advanced Practice Provider Educators for Primary Care, Tyler plays a pivotal role in mentoring and developing future healthcare providers. Additionally, he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Adjunct Faculty member at Bay Path, demonstrating his commitment to educating the next generation of PAs.

Branco gave sage advice to the class: “There will be challenges ahead, but know that you have the support of your faculty, your peers, your family and friends and the entire PA community.  You can do it!”

For the 65 students, donning their white coats represents far more than a uniform—it is a symbol of their readiness to step into the clinical setting and provide care that makes a meaningful difference. Bay Path University’s MPAS program continues to prepare its students to meet the evolving needs of healthcare, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and compassion to thrive as future physician assistants.

Theresa Riethle, program director of the MS in Physician Assistant Studies added:  "After 21 years in PA education, the White Coat Ceremony continues to inspire me, as it represents the dedication and passion that fuel the next generation of physician assistants."

Congratulations to the Bay Path University PA Class of 2026!
