Within each of our Bay Path community members is an inspirational story of perseverance and strength, and we are honored to share them. This narrative appeared on social media as part of Bay Path's #MyPath series.

"I grew up on a farm in rural Colorado, heavily involved in 4-H and FFA, showing animals, and growing a big garden. I played every sport in high school and was a three-sport athlete all four years. My family is all in healthcare, so I always knew that’s what I wanted to do.

At home, it's me, my mom, my dad, and my younger sister. We’re total opposites. I’m loud, driven, and extroverted, while she’s more athletic and stubborn. My mom supports me, whether it’s reviewing an essay or internship applications. My dad isn't outgoing, but when we do things together, we're in the moment. My grandma, an ER MD, is my biggest inspiration—I still talk to her daily.

My friends call me “Handyman Grace” or “Dr. Grace.” Growing up on a farm taught me everything I need to know. I’m the one people call when they need a tire changed. I once took a friend to get labs done and discussed them with my grandma, which was a cool moment.

Healthcare runs deep in my family. My grandma was an MD, my aunt is a nurse practitioner, my mom is a school nurse, and my great-aunt worked with pathogens and cancer research.

I started playing sports at 4—swimming, softball, baseball, t-ball, basketball, soccer, volleyball. I played softball and faced coaching challenges junior and senior year, but it pushed me, and I got a college offer.

There’s a recruiting company called NSR where you can send a mass email to a specific region. I've always wanted to go East Coast, so I emailed every school there. Seventeen got back to me, and I narrowed it to three. My mom and I visited them in December 2021, and Bay Path was by far the best.

I had decided on Bay Path. It felt like a weight was lifted. The past three years here have been great. The team is competitive and fun.

I came in as a neurobiology and medical science double major, planning to be a neurosurgeon, but I decided that lifestyle wouldn’t work for me. I had a mid-college crisis, switched to pre-vet, then changed again because of time management.

I changed my major to biology—it’s broad. I can go into research, med school, PA school, or other paths. Being a student-athlete, my freshman and sophomore years were easier than now, but I wouldn’t change anything.

I’m set to graduate a semester early, so this will probably be my last season unless I stay for PA school. I’m applying all over the country, including Bay Path and the top 50 PA schools. This summer, I’m doing an REU internship for research

I’ll graduate in December 2025. Graduating early scared me at first, but I narrowed it to PA with anesthesia, and I’m going for it. In 5 years, I’ll still be in school. In 10, I hope to be working in a hospital, settling down, and starting a family.

Thankful for Bay Path’s environment. Bigger schools don’t offer what Bay Path does. It’s a treat to have these opportunities. - Grace Ramsey '26
